In 2004, GFWC Marlborough Junior Woman’s Club held a contest for children living in a local housing complex. The children were asked to write an essay detailing what room in their house would they have made over if they won the contest. All entries were judged by an outside panel including a local state representative and a radio station DJ. The essay that won was from a girl who wanted their kitchen made over for her mother because, as she said, “the kitchen is the heart of our home.”
In the style of the old TV show “Trading Spaces,” we sent the family to spend the weekend at a local hotel while Juniors got to work. Through volunteers and donations, we completely overhauled the family’s small galley kitchen in the span of a weekend. The reveal was half the fun!
Here are a few photos of this project!
