The Education Department provides an opportunity to work with our schools. The committee annually presents a nursing scholarship, has run a middle school baby-sitting course, a 4th grade spelling bee, and selects a book for the Madeline Snook Memorial collection at Marlborough High School. It also works with agencies such as the Marlborough Public Library providing books upon the birth of children and grandchildren to club members and assisting with the Summer Reading program. It has traditionally selected the club’s winner of the Marilyn Perry Leadership Award. May is Teacher Appreciation month, so the club invites students from Marlborough Public Schools, AMSA, Hudson Public Schools and IC School to nominate their favorite teacher. The winning teacher and the student, who nominated him/her, are invited to the May business meeting where the teacher is awarded a small gift.
