Metrowest Princess Boutique

The Metrowest Princess Boutique is a project sponsored by the GFWC Marlborough Junior Woman’s Club.  The goal is to help qualified girls get to the prom by easing the financial burden for them and their family.  All items, dresses, shoes, make-up and accessories are free.  The students will have the help of a personal shopper; make-up artists and seamstresses to make the whole outfit perfect for their prom or senior reception!  Hundreds of brand new gowns are also available!

The Metrowest Princess Boutique serves girls in and around the Marlborough, MA area, including Worcester.  We work with area high schools to pre-qualify girls to come shop in our boutique.

Joint Efforts Yield Huge Results

MJWC teamed up with Furnishing Options in Marlborough to collect much needed blankets, sheets, towels and other linens to stock the shelves for the coming winter months.  Juniors and Furnishing Option volunteers fanned out and collected hundreds of items — so much so it’s been a challenge finding storage space!  Two Juniors especially should be called out for their efforts, Sue Waudby and Kerry Higgins.  They worked tirelessly on the project and have given up much needed storage space in their homes for this project.  Sue and Kerry embody the Junior spirt!

MJWC Featured in MPL Library Display Case

For the month of November, MJWC was represented in the Marlborough Public Library’s display case.  The library encourages groups and service organizations to “adopt” the case for a month.  MJWC decided to treat it as a membership drive and filled the case of lots of pictures of Juniors in Action.  Did you get a chance to see it?  We hope so!  Being in Juniors is a blast!

2010 9/11 Baskets

Since 2002, GFWC Marlborough Junior Woman’s Club has taken the opportunity on the anniversary of one of America’s worst tragedies to honor the local men and women who serve our community in the police and fire departments.  We collect goodies and present a basket to each station.  It’s great fun seeing them start digging through the baskets for the goodies!  More importantly, we want to never forget the tragedy and never forget the brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day for us.

Juniors Donate Easter Baskets to Food Pantry

After collecting fun items from club members and the community, Juniors met for an afternoon to assemble the baskets. We were able to donate 25 baskets and a fun time was had by all!

MJWC donates to Furnishing Options

The GFWC Marlborough Junior Woman’s Club made Furnishing Options the recipient of it’s 2010 annual fundraising event.  Furnishing Options is a program of Employment Options, run by volunteers, that mobilizes community support to obtain surplus furniture and other household goods and provide them to low-income individuals and families struggling to create homes in the Marlborough area. Additionally, Furnishing Options offers children and adults the experience of generosity and meaningful social action, and provides a setting for vocational skills training.

Several MJWC members work in the Furnishing Options store.  Do you have furniture you can donate?  Would you like to volunteer to help them?
